You can’t do a 30th-anniversary celebration of any TV show, let alone Star Trek:TNG, without a best episodes list. So here’s the first part of mine.

I really wanted to like The Defenders. At least, I wanted to like it more than I actually did. This column contains spoilers.

The “troubles” are supernatural afflictions affecting the townspeople of Haven, Maine, on a show called Haven that originally aired on SyFy. The show is now on Netflix, and I figured I should finish watching it after only making it through two seasons during first-run. So I did, and then I made a list of the troubles. Well, some of them. Six, to be exact.

And yes, there’s a reason I put Shatner in this post.
In episode 289 of Tales to Terrify, you can hear me perform “Digging Up Doug” by Ron Riekki. It’s short horror, with no explicit, gory, or sexual language or activities… but that doesn’t make it any less horrific.
I’m posting this late today because I fell asleep and I dreamed. A lot. But not about any of these six things, interestingly.

My company has been on a “get to know how everyone works together” kick, which is a great idea. But it terrifies people who suffer from anxiety. Not that that’s going to stop them, despite the fact that about 18% of people deal with some form of mental illness, and anxiety is a big percentage of that.

In 2013 at the Taos Toolbox writing workshop, I wrote a short-story about a man who’s never been to a cemetery. When he finally goes to one, after his partner dies, he makes a new friend… who died several years ago. It’s a quiet little ghost story that I’m quite proud of. I hope you like it too.
“You Don’t Bring Me Flowers”, out now in Storyteller Magazine, volume 1, issue 5, for August 2017.

I got a fidget spinner yesterday. Of course I’m going to write a column about it.

I like the SyFy TV show Dark Matter. Each of the main characters — at least, the core ones — are numbered. There are six of them. You know what that means.

Of course I watched GLOW on Netflix. Like there’s any doubt in your mind that I would have done.

Two weeks ago, I dropped my phone in the toilet. This is my story.

If I had control of the Heinlein estate, I’d get with Netflix (or some other VOD provider) and tell them about some books that I think would make excellent serieses. And who I’d cast.

I bought a new house, and I’m really looking forward to it.

I was really reaching for a topic this week, but I think I pulled this one out rather nicely. Deep down, it’s about staying positive at work by surrounding yourself with positive icons.
