You’d think after seven tries, I could get the living part right, or at least be a pro at dying, but both are still messy and painful. At least dying doesn’t scare me anymore.

SIX OF THE BEST… things that drive you nuts about your co-workers
You are getting paid a good salary to do this job. Have a little pride in your work and spell-check. Do you realize how stupid we all look when you can’t spell “vandalized” or put a space between “in” and “front”?
SIX OF THE BEST… ways not to be a dick on the elevator
I work in a 27-story office building with ten elevators. We share them quite a lot, and the fact that we have so many usually means that there’s plenty of room. My old job, though, only had three (and only two worked most of the time), and they were always crowded.
And it seemed like a lot of folks didn’t know the right way to behave on an elevator.
Let me help.

Movie Review: “Upside Down”
The concept of a world that’s opposite to our own isn’t a new one. I mean, even John Norman did it with his Gor novels. And the concept of playing with gravity isn’t new either. But mix them together and you might just end up with a film like Upside Down.
SIX OF THE BEST… places to fart while at work
I promise that every “Six of the Best” column won’t be about bathroom-related things. I really do.
SIX OF THE BEST… two letter plays in Words With Friends
I’ve started a new column for Nerdery Public called “Six of the Best”. The inaugural one covers Words With Friends, because why the hell not?
Movie Review: “Upstream Color”
Look, I’m not going to lie to you: I had no fucking clue what was going on for most of the first half of Upstream Color, the second feature film from director Shane Carruth.

Movie Review: “Apollo 18”
It’s been a long time since America has been to the moon. Hell, at this point even the Chinese have sent a lander there, if not actual taikonauts yet. The last moon mission was Apollo 17, back in 1972.
Or was it?
The found-footage film Apollo 18 aims to show why we haven’t been back. And if this film is to be believed, there’s a damn good reason.
“Secret Santa 2: Krampusnacht”
The sequel to “Secret Santa”, SECRET SANTA 2: KRAMPUSNACHT, is now up at the Dunesteef. Listen here.

a review of “Secret Santa”
This is a clever, entertaining story that reads easily and did not go where I expected. As an added bonus, it includes a candid look at fat intolerance. While it is complete, it’s a measure of good storytelling that it left me imagining what else would happen in the future, what had happened in the past, and what some motivations might have been along the way.
“The Gift of the Magi” by O. Henry
I’m performing “The Gift of the Magi” on Journey Into this week. Also, this is the first time using my new studio setup, so if my narration sounds weird, please let me know so I can work on that.

a review for “Secret Santa”
A lot of holiday stories are pretty trite, folks, or worse, are cloyingly, embarrassingly stupid. “Secret Santa” is a Christmas story with an edge, with a bit of bite to it, that stands out from the crowd. That doesn’t mean it can’t warm the little cobwebbed corners of your heart before the end, but you’re in for a wild ride along the way.
Another five-star review for “Secret Santa”, this time from Rish Outfield, one-half of the Dunesteef editorial team. Rish and his co-editor Big Anklevich were in charge of the contest that “Secret Santa” placed in in 2012, and they published the story.

a review for “Secret Santa”
THE absolute best Christmas story I’ve ever read, hands down! Secret Santa is unlike any story I’ve read about Christmas, so it’s not a cheap knock-off like a lot of the so-called “original” fiction out there. I can’t wait to read the sequel!
“Secret Santa” has been out for less than 24 hours and I already have a very positive review. That always feels good.
